Rust Engineer
About the role
Sigma Prime is looking for experienced Rust engineers who care deeply about decentralised systems, Ethereum infrastructure, and performance-critical software.
You will work on systems related to Ethereum block building, MEV infrastructure, and high-performance distributed systems, with opportunities to contribute across the broader Ethereum ecosystem, including Layer 2 infrastructure.
We are looking for engineers who enjoy working close to the protocol layer, optimising critical systems, and solving complex performance and networking problems.
This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced blockchain researchers and engineers on infrastructure used across the Ethereum ecosystem.
The Company
Sigma Prime is a blockchain security and distributed systems consultancy focused on securing critical decentralised infrastructure.
Since 2016, we have worked with many of the most prominent teams in the industry, delivering security assessments, protocol research, design consultancy, and specialist engineering services across complex Web3 systems, distributed protocols, zero-knowledge systems, infrastructure, and smart contracts.
We are also the creators and maintainers of Lighthouse, an Ethereum consensus client used by roughly 40% of the network.
In addition, we build and maintain Anchor, an SSV client written in Rust and focused on decentralised validator infrastructure.
The Role
You will help design and evolve performance-critical infrastructure across Ethereum and adjacent systems.
The role focuses heavily on MEV-related systems, block building, transaction flow, latency-sensitive infrastructure, and distributed systems performance. There is also room to contribute across broader Ethereum infrastructure and protocol-adjacent tooling.
We are looking for engineers who enjoy deeply technical work, care about performance, and are motivated by complex distributed systems problems.
You may fit this role if you:
-
Write high-performance Rust and enjoy optimising latency-sensitive systems
-
Have experience profiling and tuning systems using tools such as flamegraphs, async/runtime tuning, allocator optimisation, or lock contention analysis
-
Have strong EVM knowledge, including transaction execution mechanics, gas accounting, and state access patterns
-
Understand the MEV ecosystem, including proposer-builder separation, relays, private orderflow, and builder incentives
-
Have worked on MEV searching or MEV-adjacent systems
-
Understand mempool behaviour, transaction propagation, and orderflow infrastructure
-
Are passionate about Ethereum, proof-of-stake systems, and decentralised infrastructure
-
Enjoy working on low-level, performance-critical distributed systems
The ideal candidate is an Ethereum enthusiast with strong Rust experience who is excited to work alongside world-class blockchain engineers.
Location
